Great Danes - Pictures - Exercise Needs

Great Danes run the risk of becoming couch potatoes. The Great Dane owners are advised to walk the dog daily. These dogs do well in agility training, as they are trainable and intelligent. Great Danes should be trained with patience and consistence. They do not do well with rough training methods, as they are extremely sensitive. Early socializing and training are highly recommended.

Great Danes are housedogs. Strange as it may seem, they do not do well as outside pets. Great Danes tend to be unaware that their size. Their size does not allow them to sit on the master's lap or run around the house as a miniature dog would. When left unattended, the Great Dane may experience separation anxiety. Normally, the Great Dane is a rather quiet inside dog, which does not give you much trouble trying to handle it.

Great Danes - Pictures - Feeding

A dog of such size as the Great Dane should eat in a standing position to have proper digestion. The food and water should be provided on a raised platform. It is recommended to feed the Great Dane 2 or 3 small meals a day and supervise it for about an hour after the meal in order not to let it run or jump. This avoids the risk of bloat. Great Danes should not be overfed.
